HORI has introduced an electric ocarina inspired by The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. The product is officially licensed and designed to interact with the Nintendo Switch 2, which recognizes the sound produced by the accessory in specific parts of the game. Despite its shape and concept, the product is not a traditional acoustic ocarina: you do not need to blow into it to produce sound. It is an electronic device designed for the experience of playing the game, performing music, and listening to songs from the Ocarina of Time universe.
Update September 15, 2026: HORI’s official store has announced the exact release date for the Electric Ocarina of Time (NSX-261) in Japan: November 5, 2026, priced at ¥7,980 with pre-orders available. The official description also clarifies that it is not an acoustic ocarina: the instrument is not played by blowing, but via buttons. The product offers free play and automatic playback of programmed songs, along with integration with Nintendo Switch 2 audio recognition.

Two Playing Modes
The instrument has two musical performance modes: in Free Mode, the player covers the holes with their fingers and plays freely, inspired by how a conventional ocarina is played, except that no blowing is required. In Auto Mode, one of the 12 included songs plays automatically, so the player does not have to perform the melody manually. It is an easy way to listen to and enjoy the game’s music.
Features
- Sound recognition on Nintendo Switch 2: the console can recognize the ocarina's sound and follow along with the music during compatible parts of the game.
- Volume control: a dial lets you adjust the volume directly on the product.
- Headphone output: the headphone jack lets you listen to the instrument more privately.
- Display stand: the set includes a stand to keep the ocarina supported when not in use.
